Embroidery trends for apparel industry

Embroidery decorations are never out of fashion, we see jeans with embroideries on hip pockets, watch pockets, pick stitch along the out seam, etc…

All manufacturers in the apparel industry are always looking for new embroidery techniques, digitizing or even 3D embroidery. Here are the steps to follow when developing a new embroidery design:

  • PDF Artwork of the embroidery design
  • Digitize the design on the computer
  • Cut denim or any other fabric mock ups, a hip pocket for example.
  • Embroider the mock up in order to confirm the stitches are correctly set as per as the needed specifications.

Embroidery threads need to meet the embroidery machine capacities, tex 24 is the most common thread to be used in so many singular colors, multi colors, metallic, etc..

In the present, some of the brands are combining embroideries & heat transfers designs, the truth is that this trend is still present on each fashion seasons, more or less, but every jean has an embroiderer design on it.

Grupo Denim, as a leader manufacturing industry located in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico, is always looking for new and more sophisticated embroidery machines in order to accomplish its customer’s needs that are showing an increase on their fashion jeans sales; therefore, more embroidery capacity is needed. “Even a 5 pocket jean takes an embroidery now, so embroidery is always on trend, Rock 47 by Wrangler is a brand that takes a lot of embroidery, so on every season we are seeing new designs, we are glad and proud to work with our partners’ designers by working as a one team only, and they have come with such a great ideas that makes every season so successful in sales, we start with a minimum order and our customers always come back to place an extra purchase order”, said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.

E-commerce killing big retail stores

E-Commerce killing big retail stores

E-Commerce killing big retail stores, should we all get on line?

Internet crushed our life upside down. Nowadays we can have friends from the entire world; we can have web conferences, get any kind of information in an instant and buy all kind of products.

The first online stores sold books back in 1992, and now you can buy everything on internet: clothing, tickets, electronics, etc…The only troubles that this system is facing is that the customer does not see the goods and the wait time because when we go into a retail store we see something that we like, we take it and we buy it; however, there are a lot of benefits on the on line shopping and this is why it is getting most popular every day, especially because of the costs, on line stores are much cheaper than a retail store. No rent and bills get paid, only web hosting and technical support.

Right now, all the brands are building their stores online because life is getting by so fast that people do not have enough time to go and buy from retail stores anymore, they want everything to be fast and easy, housewives order their market on line and they can have it on their door by the next day, we can buy our favorite jeans or presents at the same time without running thru all the store.

Jeanswear brands are putting all their collections on line and they are increasing their sales, production orders are increased to contractors and manufacturers in this sector.

Grupo Denim, a manufacturing leader company in Mexico, reports a sales increase after putting a website with all the company information and provided services. For Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, its president, even if the ecommerce represent the closing of so many retail stores in the beginning future and even if Grupo Denim does not sale jeans on line, their services are offered on its website and this has been a great jump for the company business. “As Bill Gates said: If your business is not on the internet, then your business will be out of business”, said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.

How to turn your old jeans into new shorts

Winter is almost over and as the days starts feeling hotter, some people thinks of going out and buy shorts for the new season, but you do not need to spend any extra money on this, as today we will show you how to turn some old jeans you do not wear anymore, into shorts.

Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim, a manufacturing enterprise said the following: “Denim is easy to handle, if you have basic experience in sewing, you can transform any garments made of this material into something different, such jeans that can become shorts”

Here are the steps to turn those old jeans into shorts:

  1. Choose your jeans – You need to pick those that you are sure you do not want to wear anymore as jeans, they should fit better on you, especially on those parts you are not cutting, such as your hips and waist.
  2. Size the length of your shorts – It will depend on how long you want it to be to put a mark where you will cut them out.
  3. Add extra inches – Remember to add a couple of extra inches for the hem.
  4. Cut the fabric – Follow the mark you have previously drawn and use sharp scissors so the cut is not irregular.
  5. Do the hem – Use a sewing machine with the correct needle for denim.

Those are the basic steps you need to follow and you will have a new garment in your wardrobe, as you can see, the steps are easy to follow and this is a pretty cheap process.

If you want to go further, you can add paint, or add fabric scraps to your shorts to make them look more modern, you can also try to put different accessories to the back pockets.

“Denim is a very versatile fabric, and it lasts for too long, which makes it a good option to turn your jeans into shorts and give them a new life”, added Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.

Clothing using infrared technology

Clothing using infrared technology, introduced by Invista

Invista is introducing “Thermolite Infrared” technology, a solar activated technology that allows the garments to heat when they are exposed to the sun.

According to Invista, the Thermolite Infrared technology is made from a new products pallet developed by the Thermolite Pro brand. The techonology is activated by the sun or artificial light sources, thanks to its exclusively yarns that absorbs the NIR rays to increase the temperature of the garments.

The fiber technology gives insulation and reduces heat loss helping its performance, even in cold temeperatures. The performance is constant and lasts during the life of the garment. The warming properties are designed to dry the garments faster than traditional technologies. This dry timing means that in case of the garment gets wet when wearing it, the body heat can be used to stay warm instead of helping the garment to dry, this gives more protection when the weather is extremely cold.

According to Huw Williams, Invista’s global leader for sportswear and outdoor, the consumers will enjoy the new and innovated benefits, while meeting the most high standard levels of quality and performance. The first market to enjoy this new Thermolite Infrared technology is going to be the outdoor market, with insulation for jackets, gloves, caps and sleeping bags. Others will be announced late 2016.

Salomon Juan Marcos, president of Grupo Denim, is looking forward to start new projects using this new technology, they have worked fire resistant clothing in the past, and are very familiar to handle Invista fabrics. “One of our best partners is working on a new jacket design, we are very excited to venture in this kind of products, we have worked Invista fabrics before and we have a dedicated production area that is assigned for this project, we are here to innovate for them” said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.

Ways to wear denim

Different ways to wear denim

Denim is a highly resistant fabric, so for this reason, many people sees it as a rough one, especially because this began to be used as work wear, but today we will show you different ways to combine your denim clothes so you can see how they are not made for informal looks.

“Garments made of denim are resistant, which made them an excellent option to save money in clothes”, thinks Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.

If you wear a pair of denim jeans with a shirt and sneakers, you will of course have a relaxed an informal outfit; however, if you combine these same jeans with any other garments, the combinations are practically endless, and it would depend on those combinations to create looks for all scenarios.

Here are some styles you might want to try one:

  • Skinny jeans, blouse with glitter and a black blazer, combine them with high heels boots. Make sure your jeans are made of a dark color denim and plain. This outfit can be worn for a cocktail or a less formal occasion.
  • Denim jacket and a mini-dress are the perfect look for a night out, combine them with pumps and discrete accessories, this is a very audacious and modern outfit that we are sure you are going to love.
  • If you are trying to get a sophisticated look, combine your white jeans with a bright gold blouse and high heels; add a denim clutch and you will be ready to shine.
  • Is denim formal or informal? As you can see, it does not entirely depend of wearing a garment made of denim but it is also about the garments, accessories and shoes that will complement your look that will make you look as formal or relaxed as you want to.

Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal added: “Many people used to think that denim garments were made for sport and informal looks, but that has changed now that we know we can make lots of combinations with these garments and their designs are versatile as they are not made for work wear anymore”

Sustainable textiles

Sustainable textiles and their importance

Sustainable textiles and their importance for the environmental care

Textile industry started on XXI century and it has suffered some major changes since then, biology, microelectronics and nanotechnology has made it possible for manufacturers to incorporate new process with natural fibers in order to get sustainable textiles that are very important to take care of the environment.

These sustainable textiles being considered now for multiple uses and not only for clothing, as it makes an important contribution to decrease global warming, because of the biodegradability they have, as natural fibers can biodegrade in months.

“New times have new demands and being complete aware of the importance of environmental care is vital to be able to conserve our world as we know it” was the opinion of Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, in regards to this topic.

Consumers are also more conscious about the importance of caring for environment and are starting to look for garments made of sustainable textiles, as they are comfortable, and look very similar to any other textile, the only negative side they find is the high prices they might reach at the market due to the newest technologies being used to create textiles with natural or regenerated fibers.

Textile products produce enough sources of work for more than 40 million workers around the world, so textile producers are working to get the new technologies and machinery that will help them create sustainable materials by offering competitive prices and taking care of the environment at the same time.

“It is very important to protect the environment from all possible sides, it is very exciting to see how sustainable items are getting stronger, that means awareness of the value of making changes today to take care of our planet”, added Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.

Industry for entrepreneurs in Mexico

Industry for entrepreneurs in Mexico

Industry for entrepreneurs in Mexico is promising for 2016

Over the last 14 years, the capital industry for entrepreneurs in Mexico has grown at a steady pace, with 28% annual, and nowadays, there are 155 active finances that invest 38% of their resources in small and medium businesses, 30% in real estates, 20% in infrastructure, and 4% in entrepreneur’s capital.

Some investors usually thinks twice before they put their money on startups as they are more risky, as they have the highest percentage as non-viable, but, per Gerardo Herrera,  Director of Communications for Risk Mathics, investors should take a chance with new businesses as they help creating more job sources and innovation for the country.

Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim, gave us his opinion about the entrepreneurs in Mexico:

Interviewer: Do you think investors must risk with the entrepreneurs who open new businesses?

Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal: Of course, entrepreneurs have always done incredible things for the country, some of them have started with an idea, and they now have some of the biggest companies in Mexico.

I: Do you think Mexico’s government supports entrepreneurs?

SJMV: I know there are programs in the country to support entrepreneurs who help them make their dream of establishing their own business come true.

A small enterprise tends to grow fast, which means their profits increase very quickly, they tend to create new markets, contrast with some of the big companies that are already established in a defined market.

Mexico counts with a program known as Inadem, which is intended to support entrepreneurs on the country, approving investment funds that are destined for startups.

“Mexico is awakening to private equity, organizations such as Inadem need to impulse more funds to support entrepreneurs in this country with a growing economy”, added Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal.
